The 101'ers

The 101'ers played The Red Cow on Hammersmith Road 7 times. Shane McGowan (of The Nips, and later of The Pogues) saw The 101'ers play here, got drunk and fell off the back of a friends bike, breaking all of his teeth-link
The Red Cow would also be the venue where Joe informed the owner of Chiswick Records (who The 101'ers had just signed to) that he had joined a new group.

The Red Cow would play host to many other bands-AC/DC and The Jam being perhaps the most well known. The venue would close at the end of 1978 and would be demolished in 1981. A new venue was built on the same site and opened in 1988. It was again called The Red Cow before changing it's name to Latymers.
